Chartered in 1936, Nutmeg State Financial Credit Union began as the credit union for the Hartford Telephone Company. Through the years, Nutmeg evolved into the 6th largest credit union in the state of Connecticut with an asset size of $420 million. In 2015, the credit union became state chartered. At the end of 2016, Nutmeg merged with Housatonic Teachers Financial Credit Union. Today, the credit union is open for membership to anyone who lives, works, worships, attends school, or volunteers in Hartford, Middlesex, New Haven and Tolland Counties as well as the towns of Stratford, Shelton and Bridgeport.
Headquartered in Rocky Hill, Nutmeg has eight existing branches in the greater Hartford County area including Manchester, Glastonbury, Hartford, New Britain, West Hartford, Cromwell and Bristol. Housatonic Teachers runs as a division of Nutmeg State Financial Credit Union in Stratford. The latest branch in the Orange ShopRite, expected to open this spring, will be Nutmeg’s first in New Haven County.
Nutmeg prides itself on assisting its members with their everyday financial needs and bringing banking to them, 24/7, through electronic and mobile banking services. More information on Nutmeg State Financial Credit Union can be found at www.BankingAwesome.com.Images
