Where: Welles-Shipman-Ward House 972 Main Street, South Glastonbury, CT When: Saturday, March 25, 2017 Time: 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm Cost: $40 per person. Seating is limited. Reservations required. ‘Tis the year 1796 and once again the Welles Hotel will be open to the townspeople of Glastenbury. The evening will be reminiscent of the hotel and tavern in the 18th century. The kitchen in the Welles-Shipman-Ward House will be transformed into the taproom of the Welles Tavern for the evening. At this time, public houses were gathering places for residents and travelers. Glastenbury townspeople (attendees of this event) will be welcomed as they arrive, by Joseph and Susannah Welles. Guests will experience how colonial Americans ate and socialized, relive American history, and be able to warm up by the fire of one of the largest known period fire places in the state. Guests will enjoy a light authentic 18th century supper of ham, hot slaw, cheese, and homemade bread and apple pie made to colonial receipts, and cyder as it was served in colonial times. As the evening progresses, traveling visitors (actors) will appear at the door, seeking a meal and lodging for the night. Connecticut’s first State Troubadour Tom Callinan will be among travelers visiting the Welles hotel. Supper at the Welles Tavern will take place on Saturday, March 25th, from 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm. It will take place at the Historical Society of Glastonbury’s 1755 Connecticut River Valley Mansion, The Welles-Shipman-Ward House, 972 Main Street, South Glastonbury. There is a limited amount of seats available for this event. The cost is $40 per person. Make your reservation today, this event sells out quickly!
