    CT Paid Leave Important Deadline

A full year has already passed since CT Paid Leave began accepting claims and paying benefits to Connecticut workers. We are thrilled to have paid out over $250 million to more 50,000 individuals, providing them some peace of mind as they navigate health challenges, as well as happy moments like welcoming a new child.

Our program would not be possible without the cooperation of thousands of businesses across the state, both large and small, who collect contributions from their employees and remit them to the Paid Leave Authority. These contributions fund the CT Paid Leave Trust from which benefits are paid.

As a matter of equity and fairness, it is important that all covered employers fulfill their obligation to collect and remit these contributions.  While most employers have done so, we need to take additional steps to ensure full compliance.  Specifically:

    • Effective May 1, 2023, the CT Paid Leave Authority will begin assessing penalties and interest on delinquent or incomplete contribution payments.
    • Businesses that wish to avoid such penalties and interest are encouraged to be sure that their contribution obligations are paid in full by April 30, 2023.
