SUMMARY:Chamber Hours at the East Hartford Library
DESCRIPTION:Small Business Support Open Hours/Threads of Assumption Workshop\n\nFriday\, November 18\, 10:30 AM 12:30 PM\n\nAre you thinking of taking the next step and opening your own small business? Are you in business already and interested in learning more about the resources available to you? Join us at the library for Small Business Support open hours on the third Friday of the month. Learn about help available for both aspiring and established small business owners\, and speak with representatives from SCORE and from the Connecticut River Valley Chamber of Commerce\, which represents over 400 members in East Hartford Marlborough\, and Glastonbury. \n\nOn November 18\, we have a special opportunity for Small Business Support open hours participants! Join Threads of Assumption artists Martha and Sofie in the Makerspace to answer the question: How have we experienced gender bias in our culture\, families\, communities\, and religious affiliations? Using provided looms\, participants will make an individual yarn weaving using their own stories around gender bias as inspiration. While weaving and chatting with the artists\, attendees can tell their stories to one another or write them down individually. The stories and weavings will be made anonymous and translated by both the artists and artificial intelligence for the exhibition at the library in April 2023.\n\nWe want to be sure that the stories of the small business community are included in this exciting project. Between 10:30 AM 12:30 PM\, both programs will run concurrently\, with time to participate in both.\n\nRegister for a reminder (to attend either or both opportunity). Walk-ins welcome! Small Business Support Open Hours are sponsored by the East Hartford Public Library\, the Town of East Hartford Development Department\, SCORE\, and the Connecticut River Valley Chamber of Commerce.
