SUMMARY:Holiday House Tours
DESCRIPTION:Season's greetings and welcome to our third Holiday House tour\, and the first to feature South Glastonbury.\n\nOn Saturday\, December 4\, 2021\, from 12 to 4 PM\, you can tour -- in any order you choose -- two churches\, a library\, and ten houses\, all of which are included in the 75-acre\, 80-structure South Glastonbury Historic District.\n\nThe community known now as South Glastonbury was originally called Nayaug and was the first part of what would\, in 1693\, become the separate town of Glastonbury to be settled by the founding families of Wethersfield. At first predominantly agricultural in nature\, South Glastonbury grew in leaps and bounds beginning in the early 1800s with the development of substantial manufacturing facilities along Roaring Brook. As a result\, the properties that you will be touring are a mixture of colonial\, Greek Revival\, and Queen Anne styles. \n\nEleven of the thirteen sites are conveniently located in a triangular loop. Hosts at some sites have promised Christmas surprises in the form of decorations and music\, so get into the holiday spirit. Enjoy the tour and thank you for supporting the Society! \n\nTickets are on sale at the Museum on the Green (Mondays\, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9am to 4pm) for $35 each or by purchasing them here with a small convenience fee to cover our costs for online processing.\n\nQuestions? Email us at hsg06033@gmail.com or call the Museum at 860-633-6890.
