On Sunday, October 15th between 8:30-11:30 a.m., come and explore some of Glastonbury's bicycle friendly roads and take part in the Bike Boulevard Scavenger Hunt. You'll be on the look-out for "secret" pit-stops through the local streets to collect tickets to enter into prize drawings. The more "secret" pit-stops you locate, the greater your chances of winning a prize - including a brand new bike from Bicycles East! The “secret” pit-stops will be located on sidewalks and street corners anywhere in the bicycle friendly section of Glastonbury in the map below. Once you find one “secret” stop, you might get a hint or two to help locate another stop. We’ll give you all your first hint here though – look on the map for parks and public places. While there is no set course to follow, choose from the following options this year: 1. Explore the roads at your own pace from whatever starting and ending destinations you choose. 2. Bring your Bike and park in our "Preferred Parking" area in the Academy Back Parking Lot and start your adventure from there. Feel free to leave your car while you visit the Apple Harvest Festival! 3. Stop by the Bike Rodeo and Safety Demo from 8:30-10:30 a.m. in the Academy back parking lot. Weave your bike through some terrific obstacles, learn about basic bike safety and get a participation certificate (scouts you can use this towards earning your cycling badge)! The “secret” pit-stops will open at 8:30 a.m. and will close at 11:30 a.m., so take as much or as little time as you want to collect your tickets. NEW THIS YEAR: Earn extra raffle tickets by collecting the “secret letter” at each stop. Then swing by the Academy back parking lot before you head to the Apple Festival to let us know what word is formed by combining all the letters! Just be sure to give yourself enough time to make it to the Apple Festival by 12:15 p.m. for the prize drawing. Roaming bike mechanics will be out and about to lend a hand, but this is not a group ride. Riders must abide by all traffic rules and will be expected to share the roads. This is a free event and no pre-registration is required. However, prizes will be announced at the Apple Festival, so in order to claim a prize, participants will need to purchase a ticket to the festival. Please contact dennis.desmarais@gmail.com with any questions about the event.
