Historical Society of Glastonbury Cemetery Tour Glastonbury Speaks….from Beyond the Grave This October the Historical Society of Glastonbury is proud to bring back their historic Green Cemetery Tour. The cemetery has been a town landmark for centuries and you may have even visited at one time or another. But your visit to Glastonbury’s original burying ground on Saturday, October 28th will be a unique experience! Your tour guides will be spirits (reenactors) of residents who lived in 18th and 19th centuries. As a guest of their final resting place, each spirit (dressed in character) will share with you the history of the time they lived in, their personal lifestyle back then, and some true experiences that happened to them in our very own town of Glastonbury. Included in their stories will be eye-witness insights into some of the less-than-flattering realties of the 18th and 19th century commercial and social life – things you aren’t likely to have read about in the history books. And they say dead men – and women – tell no tales! This event will sell out. There will be two tours, each lasting approximately 90 minutes. The first tour will begin at 1:00 p.m. and the second tour at 3:00 p.m. Tickets are $20 per person. Purchase and reserve your tickets today at www.hsgct.org. Please plan on arriving 15 minutes prior to the tour. Each tour will start promptly. Cemetery tours also include a tour of the Museum on the Green. The Museum on the Green and the Green Cemetery are located at the corner of Main and Hubbard Streets at 1944 Main Street. Hot apple cider and seasonal treats will be available. All proceeds from this event will go toward the Historical Society of Glastonbury’s education and preservation programs.
