Priority Green Landscaping ("Priority Green", "PGL" or the "Company") is a holding company established to partner with leading companies in the landscaping and snow management industry. Priority Green was formed by Northern Lakes Capital, a Minneapolis-based private equity fund, focused on partnering with management teams to create a long-term value. Priority Green was formed in 2023 and currently has two operating companies located in the Northeast.

About the Job
The VP of Finance role is responsible for the oversight of each operating company’s financial controllers. They play a key role in the Company’s financial reporting to both internal and external stakeholders. The role requires an understanding of US GAAP principles and accounting operations. In this role, you will oversee the financial management of all Priority Green operating companies. A qualified candidate will have a deep understanding of financial strategy and management, experience in mergers and acquisitions, and strong leadership and communication skills.

Key Roles and Responsibilities 

• Responsible for oversight of portfolio company financial Controllers
  • Key responsibilities and expectations 
    • Provide oversight and leadership on: 
      • Timely and accurate completion of monthly, quarterly, and annually prepared GAAP financial reports 
      • External financial report audit 
      • Budgeting and forecasting
  • Review monthly journal entries
  • Review monthly Percentage of Completion (“POC”) journal entry
  • Review balance sheet reconciliations
  • Responsible for Intercompany reconciliations
  • Ensures compliance with local, state, and federal government requirements.
  • Highly collaborative, adept at building value-based relationships with portfolio company operations team, finance team, cross-functional teams, and functional peers
• Acts as the interim Controller for divisional entities during transitional periods (as needed)
  • Key responsibilities and expectations
    • Responsible for all aspects of the accounting operations including daily cash management, accounts receivable, accounts payable, general ledger maintenance, and account reconciliations
    • Preparing financial statements and supporting schedules according to monthly close schedule in accordance with GAAP reporting
    • Responsible for regulatory reporting, including local business taxes
• Integration and training of newly onboarded portfolio company Controllers on Company policies and procedures 
• Assist with purchase accounting and opening balance sheet work on new acquisitions with Northern Lakes Capital and external auditors
• Assist in management of ERP system integration work
• Communicate with external and internal parties – Board of Directors, Company Presidents/Controllers, Banks, Insurance, Bonding, Audit/Tax, IT, etc.
• Lead and mentor financial and accounting teams of operating companies

• Strong understanding of US GAAP accounting principles and financial analysis including an advanced understanding of consolidation, inter-company transactions, revenue recognition and lease accounting
• Self-starter with an ability to create new processes and procedures 
• Comfortable leading teams / departments
• Demonstrated ability to prioritize and multitask

• Advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills and comprehension
• High attention to detail and ability to work within stringent deadlines
• Team player with exceptional leadership, communication, analytical and problem-solving skills

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field
• 10+ years of financial experience with a proven track record of implementing financial strategies that drive business growth
• Experience with the mergers and acquisitions process and consolidation accounting
• Construction accounting – Percentage of Completion (“POC”) is preferred
• 3+ years of managerial experience
• Purchase accounting experience preferred
• Ability to be in-person, full-time in Hartford, CT
