American Eagle Donation to FoodCorps Will Support School Meals for Local Students

American Eagle Financial Credit Union (AEFCU) today announced a $5,000 donation through American Eagle’s Donor-Advised Fund at the Hartford Foundation for Public Giving to FoodCorps, which will be used to support the organization’s efforts to provide nutritious meals, hands-on learning and food empowerment to students attending East Hartford elementary schools.

“American Eagle will always remain committed to our local schools and students—who need proper nutrition and access to meals so they can focus and learn throughout the school day,” said Howard Brady, President & CEO of American Eagle Financial Credit Union. “With students now returning to school from summer break, it’s important to our Credit Union that we assist FoodCorps in providing needed nourishment and food education to our youngest community members.”

“We are so grateful for American Eagle’s donation and support of this wonderful and impactful program,” said Carolyn Pancarowicz, Registered Dietitian for East Hartford Public Schools and Sodexo. “The money will be used to support the cost of our Americorps FoodCorps Service Members, who will be serving at Dr. Thomas S. O’Connell Elementary School and John A. Langford Elementary School in East Hartford. Our service members work with hundreds of East Hartford students in the classroom and cafeteria and they support the growth of our Farm to School Program, as well as many other nutrition education initiatives in the district.”
