Community Forum on the Opioid Epidemi...Description
Drug overdoses rose in Connecticut during the first three months of 2016, according to Office of the Chief Medical Examiner. On average, 2.3 people have died from drugs each day, up from 2 people per day last year and 0.9 people per day in 2012.
The biggest increase in these drug related deaths have involved fentanyl, a fast-acting narcotic analgesic and sedative that is abused for its heroin-like effect. Between January 1 and March 31 this year, 83 people died from drug overdoses involving fentanyl.
