• Connecticut Society of Genealogists Opens 38th Annual Literary Awards Contest

Do you have a family story that deserves to be shared? The Connecticut Society of Genealogists (CSG) is excited to announce that their 38th Annual Literary Awards Contest, featuring a "Tell Me Your Family Story" Essay Contest, is now open
The CSG Literary Awards are dedicated to promoting and supporting the work of talented writers, bloggers, researchers, and family historians. The competition is open to writers of all ages and backgrounds, and offers cash prizes and other recognition to winners in multiple categories.   You do not need to be a CSG member to enter the competition.

A Grand Prize of $500 is awarded to the overall best publication, and two First Prizes of $250 each may be awarded for the best in each of two categories: “Genealogy & Family History” and “Genealogical Resource/DNA/Technology.”
The Literary Awards program also includes the “Tell Me Your Family Story” Essay Contest. Essays are informal and may include family stories, oral histories, genealogy-related anecdotes, blog entries, excerpts from an ancestor’s journal diary, transcriptions of Bible records or cemetery markers, family histories/traditions, and socio-economic background surrounding/affecting an ancestor. The winner will receive a cash prize of $100.

"The Literary Awards are a wonderful opportunity to share your family stories with a wider audience," says CSG President Jenny Hawran. "We want to recognize your contribution to preserving our shared heritage. Everyone has a story worth telling."

The deadline for all entries is June 15, 2026. Winners will be notified by August 1, 2026, and formally announced and recognized at CSG's Annual Family History Seminar on October 3, 2026.
For complete contest rules, entry forms, and submission guidelines, visit csginc.org/literary-awards or contact CSG at csginc@csginc.org or 860-569-0002.
