Please join the World War II Legacy Foundation, Inc. for the Grand Opening and Ribbon Cutting Ceremony of the World War II Legacy Foundation Museum. The event take place on Saturday, September 6th at 2:00 p.m. at the museum located at 102 Pitkin Street, East Hartford, CT. For many years now, Co-Founders of the World War II Legacy Foundation have been setting up displays and giving presentations on topics related to World War II and the men and women who served in our country’s military and on the Home Front. The next step was to open a brick and mortar location where these items could be displayed and presentations for the public could be held. Since securing a location in East Hartford, they have been setting up displays about the Pacific and European Theater of Operations, Battle of Iwo Jima, Women in the military, Chaplains, Corpsmen, Seabees, African Americans, Navajo Code Talkers and the Home Front. Included in this are tributes to individuals who served and their uniforms/mementos on display. Many educational presentations on various WWII topics have already been held. This and much more is planned for the future. This is the ONLY museum in Connecticut dedicated exclusively to World War II and only of a small number in New England. The Ribbon Cutting and Grand Opening (Phase 1) will take place at 2:00 pm. Several guest speakers are planned. The highlight of this ceremony will be the presence of area World War II Veterans who will be the “Special Guests of Honor” and invited to take part in the cutting of the ribbon and then escorted into the museum. Families of World War II Veterans are encouraged to attend. The public is invited to attend and the museum will be open to all after the Ribbon Cutting. The World War II Legacy Foundation strongly encourages the television, radio and press to document this event. The World War II Legacy Foundation, Inc. is an all-volunteer, nonprofit organization founded in 2022. Its Co Founders have been volunteering with World War II Veterans since 1995. They have also designed, built and operate the only self-contained, traveling World War II Museum in the country which has been in operation since 2017.
